A fantastic opportunity for a Construction Solicitor to join a highly regarded firm in Essex and work on large and interesting Construction projects.
Our client is a forward-thinking firm which has been based in the City of London for more than 150 years. They act for a broad range of clients including private and public companies, developers, local authorities, funders, and regulators but in particular, they act for a significant number of charities and housing associations.
Over the past few years, the firm has grown significantly and now has over 240 employees.
Their Construction, Engineering, and Procurement team is comprised of 23 (six partners, fourteen solicitors, one paralegal, and two trainee solicitors) and is divided into two sub-teams (contentious and non-contentious). About three-quarters of their work is contentious.
Within the team, they also provide advice on regulatory issues and health & safety law (including prosecutions commenced by various enforcing bodies such as the Police and the Health & Safety Executive). Their clients include developers, major corporations, funders, contractors, sub-contractors, construction consultants, local authorities, registered providers of social housing, and PFI consortia. Their work for Registered Providers involves them in some of the largest construction disputes in the social housing sector which are often in the spotlight of the national media.
This is an ideal role for those looking to gain experience working on large and interesting Construction projects. They have a growing client base in East Anglia and the successful applicant will work closely with the Colchester-based Construction Partner to continue to grow the business in this geographical area. This role will not, however, be limited to East Anglia as Devonshires’ client base is spread widely across England & Wales.
They embrace and encourage agile working and, as such, they anticipate the successful applicant will have a hybrid working pattern balanced between home and the office.
They are looking for an ambitious construction solicitor, who is prepared to work hard and go the extra mile, to hit the ground running and make their mark within a thriving construction department. It would also be beneficial to have experience in the areas of regulatory and health & safety law.
