A fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor with strong litigation experience to join a thriving Media Disputes department in London.
Our client is an established firm of commercial lawyers located in Central London and currently comprises 15 partners plus 90 professional and support staff.
Their teams are leaders in their fields and their small team structure means you will be gaining hands on experience, skills, and client contact at an earlier stage in your career.
They have been advising media and entertainment businesses for decades, offering cutting-edge expertise across the industry sectors and legal developments that affect them. They are recognised experts and have a wealth of experience in all areas of the media mix.
The department represents a large number of individuals, ranging from senior politicians to actors/actresses to talent agents. They act in high-profile libel and privacy precedent-setting cases, which regularly reach the High Court. The team is currently comprised of two partners, two senior consultants and five associates alongside seven paralegals.
They are seeking two Associates (3-5 and 5-7 years PQE) to work in key positions in the thriving Media Disputes department. They are recruiting to accommodate a flurry of significant and high-profile instructions in this exciting sector. These roles will appeal to dynamic solicitors who have strong litigation experience want to further their careers within this busy and highly regarded team.
Media law experience is not a pre-requisite for the junior role but is for the senior role.
Specialist Practice Areas:
- Privacy, breach of confidence and data protection
- Harassment and online abuse
- Reputation management
- Pre-publication reading
The ideal candidates will have between (i) three and five years PQE with a strong interest in media law and a track record within litigation and (ii) five to seven years PQE with a solid background in media law as well as litigation experience. The firm is looking for solicitors who are pro-active, dynamic, and commercial, keen to progress in a growing team with a burgeoning workload, and who is first and foremost a team player.
The successful candidates will be expected to liaise closely and develop relationships with both clients and leading barristers in this specialist field. They will be expected to become involved in business development and credit will be given for their efforts. They will have support of the partners but also be expected to supervise and instruct junior colleagues as part of a friendly and hard-working team working in a fast-paced area of law.
