Our client is a leading city-based practice with a large Employment and Pensions team that acts for or over 200 clients with an increasing number of corporate clients across England and Wales, providing
pragmatic commercial advice and guidance on all aspects of Employment & Pensions law.
The firm is looking to recruit a solicitor with 2-6 years PQE to join the team. Successful candidates will be able to manage their own caseload, comprising a mixture of contentious and non-contentious matters.
The right candidate will display strong technical ability, commercial awareness, ability to organise and prioritise their workload effectively, excellent communications skills, and a flair for nurturing client relationships.
The opportunity will be available to develop a specialism within the field to sit alongside their general practice.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:
This is not an exhaustive list and from time to time it may be necessary to vary these to meet the department and business needs:
• Responsible for the day to day running of a caseload;
• Advising on routine matters such as misconduct, sickness absence, grievances etc;
• TUPE advice and drafting;
• Conduct of Employment Tribunal litigation up to the hearing stage, with some telephone advocacy, if
required;
• Preparation, negotiation and advising on Settlement Agreements (for employers and employees);
• Advising on industrial relations and strike action;
• Advising on restructures;
• Undertaking due diligence and supporting other departments on projects with a people aspect;
• Preparation and presentation of training to clients on Employment related topics;
• Supporting the Partners on large and more complex matters if required;
• Direct interaction with clients, managing their expectations and meeting their deadlines;
• Achieving time recording and billing targets
• Efficiently managing deadlines relating to a variety of cases at any one time;
• Full involvement in marketing and business development in a client-focused manner.

Person Specification
The Firm has an opening for a first rate Employment lawyer. Experience, which should include a mix of contentious, advisory and transactional work, gained within a top tier firm is preferred. It is essential that the candidate has a strong academic background (minimum 2.1 degree) with excellent written communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will also have outstanding technical skills, together with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work well in a team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 year post qualification experience (or equivalent experience).

The Firm are looking for a qualified solicitor of 2-5 year PQE with experience in Court of Protection work to increase and strengthen their successful team.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day general management of the clients’ affairs, and in most cases will act as a primary point of contact for the client.
Working on both Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts, the successful candidate will be required to be aware of the full details of the clients’ affairs and ensure compliance with the OPG Deputyship Standards in all general management tasks. They will have an allocated case load of clients with the support of a senior member of the team and a paralegal and will be expected to undertake all or any of the following tasks: Drafting routine and non-routine applications to the Court of Protection with accompanying documentation including Witness Statements;
Supporting with the preparation of Expert Witness Statements;
Assisting with the preparation of OPG Reports;
Assisting senior members of the team with discrete tasks as required;
Running their own case load with training and supervision
Taking a role in the implementation of policies and processes relating to the team;
