Overview

Hunters Legal is working with a Leading London Firm to recruit a Banking Associate into its growing and highly regarded Banking practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance lawyer to join a collaborative and expanding team working on a broad range of sophisticated financing transactions.

The banking team advises both lenders and borrowers on a diverse range of finance matters, with a strong emphasis on real estate finance alongside wider corporate and private client-related transactions. Clients include banks, financial institutions, private equity investors, corporate borrowers, entrepreneurs and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

The team is led by highly experienced partners and offers associates close partner interaction, meaningful client exposure and strong opportunities for professional development within a supportive and collegiate environment.

The Role

The successful candidate can expect a busy and varied workload across a range of financing transactions and advisory matters.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising lenders and borrowers on financing transactions.
  • Drafting and negotiating bespoke finance documents and agreements.
  • Managing transactions from the banking side through to completion.
  • Acting as a key day-to-day contact for clients.
  • Providing commercially focused legal advice on banking matters.
  • Working closely with colleagues across real estate, corporate and private client teams.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and client relationship management.

The role offers significant responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior lawyers on complex and high-value matters.

Examples of Recent Work

Recent transactions handled by the team include:

  • Acting for a leading real estate debt and private equity fund on multiple borrowing base facilities across England, Ireland and Spain.
  • Advising a major hospitality and investment group on financings relating to hotel and residential investment assets.
  • Acting for borrowers on a £350 million financing involving a landmark City office building and high-performing London retail assets.
  • Advising a leading pharmacy chain on a £115 million revolving credit facility provided by a four-bank syndicate.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Experience gained within a recognised banking or finance practice.
  • Strong experience advising on finance transactions for lenders and/or borrowers.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating bespoke financing documentation.
  • A strong understanding of banking and finance law and its commercial application.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • A strong academic background.
  • High levels of professionalism and integrity.
