About the Role
A Top 10 UK and International Law Firm is seeking an Associate to join its expanding Insurance and Reinsurance team in London. The team continues to grow and advises on a wide range of complex, high-value and market-leading insurance matters.
The role involves advising on professional indemnity disputes, with a particular focus on defending claims against finance professionals, solicitors, insurance brokers and construction professionals. The team also handles matters relating to financial lines, warranty and indemnity insurance, cyber risks, aviation and complex policy coverage issues.
The successful individual will work with a high-quality client base, including leading insurers and major brokers. The team is recognised for its collaborative and supportive culture, its commercial and pragmatic advice and the opportunity to work closely with key clients. Individuals are encouraged to develop their own client relationships and professional networks within the insurance market.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising insurers and market participants on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious insurance matters.
- Handling professional indemnity claims and complex coverage disputes.
- Advising on financial lines, cyber, transactional liability and aviation risks.
- Drafting pleadings, coverage advice, policy interpretation and related documentation.
- Managing matters efficiently and delivering clear, practical and commercial advice.
- Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
About the Individual
The firm is committed to investing in ongoing training and professional development to support long-term career progression.
The successful candidate will have experience gained at a City, insurance, major regional or leading international law firm, with exposure to major insurance clients and complex insurance matters.
They will demonstrate strong drafting skills and the ability to provide commercially focused advice. As this is a client-facing role, excellent judgement, interpersonal skills and effective project management abilities are essential.
Experience in professional indemnity, financial lines, cyber, transactional liability or aviation classes of business is desirable. Candidates with extensive coverage experience in other insurance classes will also be considered.
