Intellectual Property Associate - US Law Firm

The Opportunity:

Hunters Legal is working with a leading US Law Firm on an opportunity within its fast-growing transactional Intellectual Property, Technology & Commercial practice in London. The team advises clients across a range of sectors on complex domestic and international matters, combining specialist IP expertise with commercial, technology and transactional advice.

The practice works closely with teams across London and the firm's international offices, providing exposure to sophisticated transactions including M&A, joint ventures and carve-outs, alongside a broad range of strategic technology and commercial contracting matters.

This is an opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to join a growing team, work on technically complex matters and develop their experience across IP, technology and commercial law within an international environment.

The Role:

The successful candidate will advise clients on a broad range of intellectual property, technology and commercial contract matters, with significant exposure to transactional work and strategic projects.

Responsibilities will include:

• Advising clients on IP, IT, technology and commercial contract matters across a variety of sectors.
• Advising on substantive non-contentious intellectual property matters.
• Drafting and negotiating complex technology and strategic commercial agreements, including distribution, reseller, manufacturing, supply, R&D, outsourcing and transitional services agreements.
• Identifying intellectual property and technology risks arising in corporate transactions and providing clear, commercially focused advice.
• Supporting complex IP and technology matters, working alongside lawyers and specialists across London and international offices.
• Advising on IP and technology issues arising in transactions, including M&A, joint ventures and carve-outs.
• Supporting business development initiatives and helping to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Identifying opportunities to develop new and existing client relationships.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across different practice areas and international offices.
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of the IP, Technology & Commercial practice.
• Supporting junior lawyers and contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer with strong experience in commercial contracts, ideally with a focus on intellectual property and/or technology matters.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Strong experience in commercial contracts, with exposure to IP and/or technology matters.
• Experience supporting corporate transactions, particularly M&A, joint ventures or similar strategic projects.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Strong knowledge of IP and commercial contract law and how these areas interact with corporate transactions, strategic projects and technology agreements.
• Strong academic and intellectual credentials.
• The ability to quickly understand technically complex matters and provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different teams and jurisdictions.
• A willingness to share knowledge and support the development of junior lawyers.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in contributing to business development and the continued growth of the practice.
• International experience or previous client secondment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
