Job Description

An exceptional opportunity for a Contentious Probate solicitor with substantial experience to join a top rated team to further develop their skills and reputation.

The Firm

Our client is a top 200 law firm in the UK with a strong reputation for delivering high quality legal services, combined with a personal and pragmatic approach to complex legal problems. They have around 120 staff, based across three established offices in London and Cambridgeshire.

The Team

The Disputes team is growing rapidly and is currently the firm’s largest team. Each team member is given a large degree of autonomy and authority. The team is rated as ‘Top Tier’ by the Legal 500, and also commended in Chambers & Partners. Senior team members are recognised as ‘Leading Individuals’ in the Legal 500 and ‘Ranked Lawyer’ in Chambers & Partners.

The Wealth Preservation team offers a bespoke Partner-led service to high net worth individuals who want their private client affairs dealt with in the same professional and corporate approach as their business needs.

The Role

The firm already operates a hugely successful and growing Disputes practice and provides a corporate approach to the needs of high net worth individuals through their Wealth Preservation team. The firm are now seeking experienced contentious probate lawyers with a passion for client service, a portable client following and who are looking to develop their career in a dynamic and progressive business. This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to further develop their skills and reputation in this practice area at a firm committed to ambitious growth and where individual commercial innovation is actively encouraged.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate is likely to have at least 10 years of PQE and significant experience in contentious probate work. This will include all types of inheritance disputes including applications contesting the validity of wills, applications to remove Executors, claims for reasonable financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, rectification of Wills and breach of trust claims, and contentious Court of Protection applications.

You may be a full Member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists and may

also, a member of the Institute of Legacy Management. A key part of the role will be to create and deliver new work. You will have a proven track record in developing and implementing a business development strategy, and demonstrable experience of winning new clients and forming long-standing client and referrer relationships. In particular, you will have a varied, portable client base comprising many high net worth clients and charities. You will enjoy building relationships across their teams and locations and be able to do so quickly. You will possess strong communication skills, a flexible approach and a willingness and desire to work with colleagues across the firm to deliver excellent client service.
