Job Description

A fantastic opportunity for an Employment Associate Solicitor to join a globally recognised law firm in London.

The Firm

Our client is a top UK 100 law firm with global connections based in London. They have built partnerships with carefully-selected law firms around the world.

They have been recognised by ‘Best Companies to Work For’ and ‘The Escape 100: Best Companies to Escape to 2019’ by Escape the City.

The firm’s top-tier legal advice is coupled with a real desire to drive change and they were the first UK law firm with B Corp certification, awarded to businesses that balance purpose and profit.

The Team

The Employment team represents both employers and employees, from first query to tribunal whilst managing risk and resolve disputes. They have handled many high-profile test cases in the higher courts, both in the UK, and are particularly well-known for working with charities and the public sector.

The Opportunity

They are looking for an Associate who has strong legal skills, a sound commercial approach, and who is a natural advocate and strong negotiator.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be expected to advise a range of clients on the full range of employment law and HR issues. Clients will include both employers (including household charities, social enterprises, and corporates) and Senior Executives. A unique feature of the employment team is that they act on both sides of disputes, often acting for Senior Executives in the context of boardroom disputes.

You will need to be able to manage a full caseload of litigious and advisory work with a particular focus on:

  • Discrimination complaints
  • Whistleblowing concerns
  • Grievance and Disciplinary issues
  • TUPE
  • Redundancy
  • Employment matters involving safeguarding
  • Employment status and volunteers

Lawyers in the employment team are provided with career development support, for example, encouragement to co-manage client relationships with partners, support the development of recently qualified lawyers, and be involved in the development of the department’s strategy.
