Hunters Legal is working in partnership with a global law firm on their search for a Real Estate Disputes Associate to join their top-tier real estate litigation team. The Role
This role offers the opportunity to join a market-leading disputes practice, acting on major property-related disputes and advisory matters. The team is known for handling "big ticket" litigation work across a broad spectrum of issues in the commercial property sphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Act on a wide range of real estate disputes including high-profile and complex litigation.
- Manage and deliver discrete pieces of legal work with high attention to detail and service quality.
- Engage directly with clients and support relationship building through regular contact and commercial awareness.
- Support junior colleagues and paralegals, offering supervision, feedback, and mentoring.
- Deliver strategic and technically sound advice, using litigation and ADR processes (mediation, expert determination, etc.)
- Contribute to internal training, knowledge development, and precedent-building.
- Engage with the wider firm through CSR, D&I, and profile-raising initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all risk, client acceptance, billing, and internal policy procedures.
The Team’s Work
The real estate disputes team regularly advises clients on:
- Development constraints (e.g. rights of light, easements).
- Nuisance claims and human rights issues arising from developments.
- Breach of covenant and enforcement proceedings.
- Injunctions related to protests and occupation.
- Property rights under compulsory acquisition legislation.
- Business lease renewals, dilapidations, lease termination and service charge disputes.
- Telecoms Act issues, business rates, insolvency and professional negligence claims.
Notable matters include:
- Acting on injunction proceedings for major transport and infrastructure hubs.
- Defending significant financial institutions in high-value lender liability claims.
- Advising landmark cultural institutions in contentious private rights matters.
- Representing international developers and asset managers in ongoing portfolio disputes.
- Supporting strategic litigation for clients involved in development of major London estates.
Candidate Profile
- England & Wales qualified, or with relevant jurisdictional experience.
- Strong academic background.
- Real estate disputes experience from a reputable firm.
- Confident communicator with solid drafting, negotiation, and litigation skills.
- Commercially aware, with ability to manage budgets and deliver profitable work.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior legal staff is a plus.
