The Employment team provides concise, timely and practical advice to clients operating in fast‑paced and often highly regulated environments. While the firm has a long‑established reputation within the media and entertainment sectors, the team also advises clients across a broad range of industries, including advertising, construction, finance, charities, professional services, local authorities and SMEs. The team regularly acts for senior executives, including CEOs, founders and partners, on complex and sensitive employment matters.

Clients are often extremely busy individuals and organisations. The team’s approach is to develop a deep understanding of each client’s business, culture and operating environment, enabling it to act as a trusted adviser. This partner‑led service is known for its clarity, pragmatism and commercial focus, ensuring that clients receive practical solutions that can be implemented quickly and effectively.

The Role

The firm is seeking an Employment Associate to join its expanding Employment department. The successful candidate will work closely with Partners and senior lawyers on a wide range of contentious and non‑contentious employment matters, supporting both employers and senior executives.

This role offers the opportunity to work with clients across multiple sectors, including those operating at the forefront of the media and entertainment industries. The position provides exposure to high‑profile and strategically important matters, as well as the chance to develop strong client relationships within a supportive and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising employers and senior executives on a broad range of employment law issues.
  • Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, service agreements and settlement agreements.
  • Supporting clients on disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes.
  • Advising on discrimination, whistleblowing and other workplace disputes.
  • Assisting with employment aspects of corporate transactions, including TUPE and due diligence.
  • Advising on redundancies, restructures and workforce changes.
  • Preparing for and assisting with Employment Tribunal proceedings.
  • Providing strategic advice to senior leaders on risk management and employee relations.
  • Working collaboratively with other practice areas, particularly Corporate and Litigation.
  • Contributing to client training, thought leadership and business development initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong experience in both contentious and non‑contentious employment law.
  • Excellent drafting skills and the ability to deliver clear, practical advice.
  • Confidence advising senior stakeholders and high‑profile individuals.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand clients’ business priorities.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a close‑knit team.
  • An interest in working with clients in the media, entertainment and creative sectors.
